Preschool

2 YRs. - 4 YRS.

Neighborhood Christian Preschool has adopted a child-led curriculum for their Preschool Program. Children are encouraged and supported in exploring hands-on activities and play both independently and with classmates. The teachers focus their lessons around the interests and skills of the children which creates an individualized learning experience.

The Preschool Program will help children develop skills in math (counting, sorting, and 1-1 correspondence), calendar, pre-writing activities, music, movement, story-telling, and art. The teachers structure these lessons with age appropriate activities. Our classrooms are well equipped with learning resources and supplies. The children have access to engaging and enriching materials such as magnets, manipulatives, blocks, puzzles, cars, musical instruments, playdough, and much more.

In the Preschool Classrooms the teachers encourage the children to share their ideas, feelings, and anything else they’d like to talk about. This not only helps to develop speech and language skills, but also builds social skills. The teachers encourage the children to try to solve problems on their own. Under the supervision of their teachers, the students can work on sharing, taking turns, and working through their emotions. This all ties into the motto the Preschool Teachers have adopted for their classroom, “The more we get together the happier we’ll be.”

Aside from education, it is the Program’s goal to provide children with a safe environment. The teachers are committed to making them feel that they are loved, accepted, respected, listened to, and taken care of – no one is left behind. Our teachers put the students at the forefront of everything they do, and strive to meet the needs of all children. They are enthusiastic to work closely with the families for the betterment of the children and strive to have open communication with them.

A typical day in the Preschool Program starts with Pledges of Allegiance, worship songs, and prayers. It is then followed by circle time. After a bathroom break, the children get to enjoy their healthy morning snacks. The children are offered different activities during indoor free play, followed by recess (outdoor play). After lunch time is nap time and bathroom time. We follow nap time with an afternoon snack. The children end their day with outside free play with our other classes.
