Infants

6 Weeks to 30 months

At Neighborhood Christian Preschool we understand the importance of play and relationship building in a  child’s life. While some may see a child in a costume, we see them using their imagination for dramatic play. Some may look at a child coloring and just see scribbles, but at NCP we see the child working on their fine motor skills, learning the colors, and expressing themselves through art. Because of these, and many other reasons, we have a play-based curriculum in our Infant Classrooms. Through this play-based curriculum, our students are able to learn at their own pace and in their own way.

Children are encouraged to explore different types of play. Music and movement, the practice of gross and fine motor skills, manipulation of toys, and dramatic play are supported so that the children can learn and grow. At the heart of NCP is the bible studies. Children in the Infant programs will experience bible story-telling to reinforce that we are all the children of God.

In the Infant programs we pay special attention to socialization. We believe the best way to learn about good, healthy relationships is through modeling. That’s why our teachers create classrooms where the children feel loved, taken care of, and listened to. In this safe environment the children are free to interact with each other to practice sharing and communicating. Our teachers and staff members also work closely with the parents for the benefit of the child. This ensures that our teachers are able to provide individualized care to the infants and build that environment of love.

Our NCP team holds your child’s safety as a top priority. In addition to creating a peaceful and nurturing learning  environment, our classrooms are also safe spaces that take the children’s needs into consideration. Our teachers ensure that children get a restful nap time, are fed and diapered as needed, and get outside time as weather permits. Our teachers offer love and snuggles to the children that help strengthen their relationships. Afterall, if a child’s and physical needs are met, their capacity to learn is so much greater.

A typical Infant day will include activity time, feeding time, nap time, and of course lots of play time.

The teachers in the Infant programs are special people that are driven to create a loving, safe, and nurturing environment for all the children. They truly believe that, “there’s a big GOD, who loves us and is always there for us when we need Him”.

As the children finish their time in these classrooms, they’ll be leaving with life-skills that will carry through the rest of their life. Through play and exploration, we will support them walking, talking, self-feeding, and more.
