Dr. Clifford Daugherty, Founder and President of Agape Schools

cliff Dr. Clifford Daugherty is the President of Valley Christian Schools (VCS), the Quest Institute for Quality Education and Neighborhood Christian Preschools. He served as Founding Principal at Los Altos Christian School in Los Altos, California and founded the Santa Clara County Christian School Association (CSA) in Silicon Valley.

Firmly founded on Christian values, Valley Christian Schools challenges youth to aspire toward lives of character, service and influence while pursuing their individual Quests for Excellence™.

VCS is committed to a Quest for Excellence™ in all of its educational programs and provides comprehensive K-12th grade offerings with a rigorous college preparatory program. Academic Achievement, Artistic Beauty and Athletic Distinction offerings include the Conservatory of the Arts, the Applied Math, Science and Engineering Institute and the Human Performance Initiative. High School students may earn two years of college and an Associative of Arts college degree upon commencement.

Valley Christian Schools (VCS) supports the homes and churches of students in providing an education that is grounded in the Judeo-Christian values of the Bible as reflected in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ.

Valley Christian Schools serves 2545 K-12 students including 1467 high school students. The school has received numerous national awards including multiple National Blue Ribbon Awards, the Intel Star Innovator Award and the Intel School of Distinction Award for mathematics. Neighborhood Christian Preschools, a separate organization from VCS includes schools in San Jose and Santa Clara with an enrollment of nearly 400 students.

Dr.Daugherty is the author of Quest for Excellence and Fly with Your Dreams. He and his wife Kris have two children and five grandchildren.

Executive Director

jkennedy Mrs. Julie Kennedy joined Neighborhood Christian Schools as the Executive Director of the San Jose campus (NCP) in August of 2014. Born and raised in Washington State, Mrs. Kennedy began her early childhood ministry in 1991 serving in 1 of only 2 Intergenerational programs in the United States. After completing her undergraduate work she moved to the Bay area to finish college and began serving at Santa Clara Christian School as both a teacher and the Children’s Ministry Director.   Mrs. Kennedy’s journey has included serving at Sunnyvale Christian School teaching and developing programs, Bethel Church of San Jose directing their private school and serving in ministry positions, teaching and training at Ohlone College, and presenting at Early Education conferences. Julie has a heart for those that serve children and continues to mentor and train her team as well as administrators and teachers outside of NCP.

Office Administration

CanCandice Thurmandice Thurman has been working with children for more than 10 years. Her varied experience includes working as a nanny, volunteer service in the Children’s Ministry at her home church, teaching in in the Preschool and Infant Center of a local family shelter and taking the lead as the Director of Children’s Ministries at Family Life Christian Center. Currently Candice is Department Lead for NCP which encompasses parent communication, early intervention, training and mentoring teachers, planning curriculum, and working on the environment to ensure that developmental areas are in place. Candice resides in San Jose with her husband and they share an amazing friendship and love story.

Office Administration

Jennifer MarovichJennifer Marovich joined Neighborhood Christian Schools in February 2015 teaching afternoon transitional kindergarten at our San Jose Campus (NCP.)  Beginning in June Jennifer transitioned into the school office to support administrators, staff, and families.  A San Jose native with a degree from San Jose State University, Jennifer began her career in Human Resources and office management but changed her career course to the teaching field after her children were born. Jennifer’s educational work has included aiding in classrooms at San Jose Christian School, Carden Academy, and Bethel Preschool and Kindergarten. Her ministry work has included children’s programming at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jennifer believes that “childhood is a journey for both children and parents” and she enjoys supporting them along this path.
