GREEN CAMPUS
Neighborhood Christian Preschool became San Jose’s first “Green Certified” preschool on July 9, 2013.
As a Bay Area Green Business, we’re proud to demonstrate environmental responsibility through sustainable practices like reducing waste, conserving resources, and using non-toxic, earth-friendly materials. Our garden program includes composting and hands-on care of our edible plants—giving children daily opportunities to learn and practice stewardship.
We believe caring for the world around us is part of honoring God, ourselves, and others (Mark 12:30–31). That’s why we also teach healthy habits like eating nutritious foods, brushing teeth, washing hands before meals, and showing kindness and respect through scripture and daily interactions.
Helping Educators, Students, and the Planet
As part of our Green Campus initiative, Neighborhood Christian Preschool proudly partners with RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching)—an innovative nonprofit that equips educators with hands-on tools to help students thrive in a 21st-century world.
RAFT transforms complex, abstract concepts into creative, hands-on learning experiences that young minds can truly grasp. This proven approach increases engagement, deepens comprehension, and nurtures critical thinking and problem-solving skills—essential tools for success in a global society.
Through our partnership with RAFT, NCP educators gain access to:
Affordable project materials and activity kits that bring lessons to life
Creative ideas and lesson plans grounded in STEAM learning
Professional development and mentoring to strengthen teaching practices
Sustainable, repurposed resources that align with our environmental values
RAFT’s work doesn’t just support learning—it helps protect the planet. Every day, RAFT diverts over 400 cubic feet of surplus materials from local landfills, repurposing them into engaging educational resources.
Together with RAFT, we’re inspiring young learners, empowering teachers, and modeling how creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.
