Why We Close for In-Service Days
Every August, before our children walk back through the doors, our campus goes quiet for a few days so our teachers can get ready. This year, that stretch falls on Wednesday, August 5 through Friday, August 7, and it looks a lot different from a typical day at NCP.
Each morning starts the same way our children start their day: together. Our staff gathers for devotion and breakfast before anything else, a chance to center themselves in prayer and connect with each other before the busy season begins. From there, the day moves into training on new policies and classroom practices, the kind of preparation that keeps our classrooms running smoothly and safely all year long.
In the afternoons, our teachers split their time between setting up their own classrooms and a trip to Lakeshore, where each teacher receives a personal budget to pick out supplies for their room. It is one of their favorite parts of the week, walking the aisles and choosing exactly what will help their classroom and their students. Whether it's books, art supplies, or cozy corner pillows, this gives each teacher a chance to make their space feel like their own.
A well prepared teacher shows up with more patience, creativity, and calm, and that is exactly what we want waiting for your child on day one. These few quiet days behind the scenes are part of how we build the kind of classroom that feels like a second home, days before your child ever walks through the door.
When your child returns on August 10, they will step into a room made ready just for them.
